The Kritter Sitters was founded in 2008 by Katie and Emily Johnsen, a mother-daughter team united by their deep love for animals and a shared vision of providing compassionate, trustworthy pet care. What began as a small operation in Southern Arizona quickly grew through word of mouth, as their dedication and personalized approach earned the trust of local pet owners.

Like many businesses, we faced unexpected challenges during the Covid-19 pandemic. When operations paused, Emily and her husband relocated to Southern Maine for work—unintentionally laying the groundwork for The Kritter Sitters' next chapter. That leap of faith led to the launch of our newest location, where we continue our mission in a vibrant new community.
